About bond scams under the supervision of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, under the Presidency of Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil W.



A forensic audit undertaken by BDO India revealed that Sri Lanka may have lost between Rs. 9.9 and 10.4 billion in over 1,100 direct placements of bonds that bypassed auctions between 2005 and 2015. A separate report indicates that Rs. 6.6 to 9.6 billion may have been lost in 2015-2016 through rigged auctions.



On 11 January 2015, a mere 3 days after the Presidential election, a certain business Basil issued a prophecy on a business website that there would be a large volume of business from Treasury bills under the new yahapalanaya government. Apparently, 47 days later, the new Governor Arjuna Mahendran (whose son in law is Arjun Aloysius) upped the bond issue from Rs. 1 to 10 billion, without warning. The Auditor General reported that the two bond issues resulted in a 1.6 billion loss to the State.
